Reindeer was melting in my mouth

My medium expectations of this place were blown away by the reindeer meat and its' sides. Big thumbs up for the dish. It absolutely melted in my mouth. Some of our party had the white fish dish, that was not so recommendable, bit dry. Thumbs

Delicious!

The food was amazing, the service quick & friendly, and the ambience was lovely. We had Elk Carpaccio for starters, then sautéed reindeer with mash, pickled cucumbers and loganberries for the main. So tasty! Followed by granberries with fudge sauce & ice cream, and the

Delicious food

We ate delicious traditional Lapland food. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great. The staff could have give us more attention, we waited dishes quite long and the same thing with a bill. Overall really good restaurant experience, we recommend!

Good local food

Good selection of local food. Tasty portions and big enough for a hungry guy, too. Drink list also wide enough. Fast and precise service.

We have been visiting the restaurant at new years evening almost 10 years. Last year we were a bit disappointed but this year the dinner was very good. Mushroom soup as starter and reindeer file wit mashed potatoes was delicious and the traditional cranberries with

We stopped for a quick lunch during a ski day. The menu for lunch was limited but offered a choice of a number of local dishes plus good children's options. We had smoked reindeer soup to start followed by sautéed reindeer. It came with all

Great finnish food

Excellent address in Ruka for Game meat and finnish specialties! We first had some Muikut (little crispy fishes with a sauce) as an appetizer, followed by a delicious mushroom soup. The highlight was clearly the Elk with the cognac sauce! The meat was simply perfect

Nice quiet spot for lunch a little out of town, easy to ski to however. The evening menu did look great but we went there for lunch, a quick elk soup which was tasty! Could have done with a real open fire, the fire they

Elk pepper steak!

This place never lets you down. Friendly and fast service and fantastic food. Previous time it was the reindeer filet and this time the elk pepper steak, both highly recommended. When in Ruka this is the place to eat!

Delicious reindeer!

Definitely one of the best restaurants we have ever visited! The reindeer fillet got the best rates in our table but we also enjoyd the sautéed reindeer, moose fillet and for starters vendace, mushroom soup and the whitefish dish!

Slow service by arrogant liars

This used to be the place, but perhaps the time has passed by this and now consumers can move forward. We had a table booked for dinner to two persons. After coming to Riipinens joint it took 15 minutes for staff to guide us to

Room for improvement

Riipinen offers nice selection of dishes made from local ingredients, mostly from wild game and local fish. Such high quality ingredients should receive the level of preparation and presentation they deserve, but unfortunately this is not the case. The kitchen seems to lack the ambition

Excellent Restaurant

This restaurant is very charming inside. We had here a fabulous birthday dinner. We ordered as starters the riipisen fried vendace and roe appetizer. For main course reindeer filet with two sauces and elk pepper steak with cognac-pepper sauce. For dessert we ordered chocolate cake

Food from the woods - delicious

Quite expensive but an experince: if you want to eat bear, moose, reindeer, rabbit or northern fishes with the Finnish taste, this is your place. Surroundings are nice, it's a couple of hundred meters from the Ruka Village, a nice walk along the road. Wooden

The Elk stake was the highlight

This was our last dinner during our stay; totally worth the 20’ drive. I had the elk stake and my wife the reindeer filet. Kids the chicken fillets. All were great but the elk stake is a reason to come back. Staff was very helpful

We ate here on New Years' Eve and although the place was full, service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. The classic fried vendace (muikku) starter is heartily recommended - it is very simple (only a helping of fried vendace with a dip

Always when I visit Ruka I visit Riipisen Riistaravintola atleast once, often twice! Really great food, atmosphere and friendly staff! Located just next to the slopes, easy access for lunch or dinner!

Some very good points but also some not so good

We ate here as a group of 14 adults and upon arrival our table was ready. The restaurant is slightly out of town, about minutes walk from the main ski centre. The decor is typical Ruka, all wood beams and log-cabin feel. Overall the premises

We went here after a days skiing. We hadn’t booked but the host was very friendly, externally helpful and arranged a table for us. The food was amazing, so well cooked and well presented. A small hiccup with starters (probably down to our language barrier!)
